Community Outreach Grant Program:

St Mary Presentation Parish - Deer Park: Youth Group Summer Retreat

• It is a youth minister's job to help the youth see the importance of keeping God at the center of their lives and helping them build a community within their faith that will help them grow closer to God. Through the summer retreat, students would be provided with the opportunity to grow in their relationships with each other, members of neighboring youth groups and with God.

Cheney Outreach Center: Client Assistance

• Cheney Outreach Center provides basic emergency assistance to low-income clients in the areas of rent, utilities, transportation, and prescriptions.

Catholic Cemeteries of Spokane (Holy Cross): Baby Urn Fund

• Urns are provided for families who have lost an infant.

EWU Catholic Newman Center - Cheney: St. John Paul II Catholic Newman Center, EWU

• The grant money supports the annual men's and women's retreats, the purpose being to invite the students to be drawn more deeply into their relationship with Christ by offering them a space spiritually where they can be "alone with Him" in prayer, especially in Adoration, along with Mass and the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Secular Franciscans - Dayton: Holiday Dinners

• Helping families who are less fortunate to celebrate Easter and Thanksgiving dinner with loved ones.

Natural Family Planning Program - Spokane: Natural Family Planning Program - 2024

• Learning the natural physical signs placed by God within each woman's reproductive system which change when fertility is present and are easily observed by the woman. Applies in all reproductive circumstances. Fosters couples working together. Low divorce rate. Increased understanding of the Church's teachings.

Feed Sprague: Feed Sprague Community Outreach

• Feed Sprague is a grassroots organization that proudly serves 4 counties by providing access to food, clothing, exercise and educational programming, and enrichment of their communities. Essential parts include weekly food boxes, food pantry, food delivery services, and programs including Senior Meals, children's summer reading program, and community groups.

Office of Vocations: Quo Vadis Days 2024

• The Diocese of Spokane's flagship vocations promotion experience for young men in high school. Providing a unique blend of summer camp and spiritual retreat, this event offers memorable and formative opportunities to deepen the relationship with God, meet faithful peers, and encounter seminarians and priests, all as they consider how the Lord is calling them in their lives.

Project Timothy Christian Aide Center - Dayton: Project Timothy General Fund

• Project Timothy Christian Aide Center serves people in Columbia County & Waitsburg who are experiencing financial difficulty by providing assistance with food and gas vouchers, rental assistance, emergency housing and utility bills.

Chewelah Faith Resources Group: TASTY Kids' Summer Food Program

• The TASTY Program provides healthy and nutritious food for breakfast and lunch. In addition, vouchers are provided to obtain fresh produce and fruit from the Chewelah Farmers' Market. The goal is to fill the gap from when the schools stop feeding students until school resumes in September.

Our Lady Of Fatima Parish - Spokane: Cursillo Movement

• The Cursillo Movement is a Worldwide Ecclesial Movement and a very important ministry in the Diocese of Spokane. It evangelizes and reaches out to many people. The Women and Men Weekends are amazing experiences and help people have a personal encounter with Jesus and the Church.

Rachel's Vineyard - Valleyford: Rachel's Vineyard Post-Abortion Healing

• Post-abortion healing for those suffering from abortion. Women, men, siblings, grandparents and those who have worked in the abortion industry.

Inland Northwest Retrouvaille Spanish: Retrouvaille Weekend in Spanish

• This weekend helps couples in the community who are struggling, separated or thinking about divorce to work on their relationships and communications skills.

Wholehearted Women's Gathering - Pasco: Wholehearted Women's Gathering Pasco

• Wholehearted Pasco has served the south-eastern Washington area since 2022. The event offers women a chance to be cherished and nourished by the Sacraments, inspirational speakers, food, and fellowship.

Catholic Charities Eastern Washington: Staff Support - Grief Retreat at IHRC

• In giving care, staff members are exposed to client trauma, and their own traumatic experiences can resurface. The retreat will serve 25 staff members, provide meals, and offer resources for staff to heal - holding a space where staff can attend to their grief.

St Thomas More Newman Center - Pullman: WSU Student Retreats Grant

• Each school year as part of faith formation and the community's spiritual growth and development, the Catholic Student Center hosts the fall and spring retreats for WSU students. These retreats are an annual opportunity for the students to have an encounter with God, to grow deeper in their faith, and to receive formation in missionary discipleship.

Our Place Community Outreach - Spokane: Our Place Community Outreach's Free Fresh Food Market

• Centrally located in the historically disadvantaged West Central neighborhood, and happily human powered, Our Place offers any Spokane County neighbors in need access to our Free Fresh Food Market. There are no requirements or documentation needed to receive services; everything is free and set up grocery-store style for folks to "shop" for what they need.

Immaculate Heart Retreat Center: Immaculate Heart Retreat Center: Search Retreat for High-School Students

• The Search retreat is defined as "Search for Christian Maturity." The goals for Search include self-discovery, deepening of one's relationship with God, and creating lasting change based on one's renewed relationship with God, self, and others.

Diocese of Spokane: Wholehearted: Wholehearted Catholic Women's Spokane Gathering 2025

• The Wholehearted Gathering is a way to bring the women of the diocese together for a day of fellowship, worship, encounter and friendship. Women gather to be sent as missionary disciples sharing the love of God with everyone served.

Holy Family Catholic Parish - Clarkston: Holy Family Community Garden

• Plant and equip the established community garden at Holy Family Parish. The grant funds will be used to purchase seeds, tools, and other equipment to help plant and maintain the garden throughout the growing season and harvest.

Cathedral Of Our Lady Of Lourdes: Aging Gracefully Retreat

• On July 24th, the Church celebrates World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly. The Cathedral retreat includes: Holy Mass, Confession, a plated luncheon and entertainment, a talk on "The Wisdom of Elders in Scripture", and potentially a Catholic Medical Association physician and/or psychiatrist to address the spiritual, psychological and physical issues involved with growing old gracefully.

Retrouvaille of the Inland Northwest: Retrouvaille of the Inland Northwest

• The Retrouvaille program consists of a weekend retreat at Immaculate Heart Retreat Center, six full day follow-up sessions, and ongoing monthly meetings. This project is for couples who have gone through the Retrouvaille program and are continuing to work on healing and building their marriages.

St Vincent de Paul at Mary Queen Parish - Spokane: MQP St Vincent de Paul Conference

• Helping people stay in their homes especially when they may go homeless, and also helping with utilities and food.

Childhood Cancer Coalition: Peer-to-Peer Support for Inland NW Families Affected by Childhood Cancer

• Childhood cancer is a family diagnosis. The Coalition aims to be there for the patient, parents, and siblings, as well as those involved with their care and community, from beginning to end, whatever each family's unique journey may look like, via peer-to-peer support events and activities inside and outside of the hospital.

Spokane Catholic Engaged Encounter: Spokane Catholic Engaged Encounter

• Catholic Engaged Encounter is the only marriage prep retreat program offered by the Catholic Church in Spokane. Held at Immaculate Heart Retreat Center, and serving those preparing for marriage throughout the Inland Northwest, including Canada.

Christ Kitchen - Spokane: 2024 Women's Benevolence Fund

• Christ Kitchen is working to break the cycle of poverty. The goal is to be ready at any moment to step in and provide emergency assistance for women through the Benevolence Fund, to support them in their goal of permanent, stable employment, so that they can stay on track and create a better future for themselves and their children.

St Patrick School - Pasco: Furnishings for the New Pre-K Classroom

• Next fall St. Patrick School Pasco will be opening a second pre-school classroom. Currently, there is a waiting list for more pre-K space and a second classroom will allow increased enrollment in the Pre-School, leading to increased enrollment throughout the school.

Holy Family School - Clarkston: Holy Family's Storage Shed for Physical Education

• In order to fully educate the students in the world of Physical Education, the school needs a proper location big enough to accommodate the necessary equipment - a large shed that will be strong enough to last in coming years, and can hold the basketballs, disc golf baskets and soccer goal.

Trinity Catholic School - Spokane: Trinity After-School Program

• The Trinity after-school program provides a safe place for middle school students to go when the school day ends. Students are provided with additional homework help, a healthy snack, and a planned physical activity.

Holy Family School - Clarkston: Bibles + Document Camera

• Having Bibles in the hand of each student will allow them to engage more deeply with scripture and develop a stronger connection to their faith. With the document camera, a bible can be projected on the board so the students can follow along while shown how to navigate the Bible.

All Saints Catholic School - Spokane: Middle Building Security Upgrade

• Looking towards the future, All Saints has worked with the local police department to go over safety at the two different campuses. With their recommendation, security cameras will be added to the Middle Building to help enhance the security features and to help keep the school safe.

Holy Family School - Clarkston: Repairing of Asphalt at Entry to Playground Area to Maintain Safety

• Holy Family School has identified an essential need for repairs to the asphalt at the entrance to the playground and school grounds from the parking lot. This repair project is vital to ensure the safety and well-being of families and children walking from the parking lot to the school playground and entrance.

Tri Cities Prep - Pasco: Transportation Costs for Tri-Cities Prep Junior Encounter

• The school population has been growing since 2020. This year, 55 students will attend the Junior Encounter, the largest group yet. The two Tri-Cities buses will accommodate 54 students total. In order to transport the entire junior class, as well as the 20 senior students who make up the Front Team and Back Team, an additional bus will be rented.

DeSales High School: Sacred Art Banner for School Masses

• A 9'x16' banner of Christ the King from New Jerusalem studios would serve to enhance the liturgical experience of the students (7th-12th Grades), faculty, and visitors for weekly Masses (approximately 130-150 people).

St John Vianney School - Spokane: SJV Junior Great Books Initiative and Preschool Curriculum Resources

• To help deepen the literary and critical thinking skills of students by integrating the Junior Great Books curriculum into the existing reading program. Building upon the foundation laid by the recently adopted reading curriculum for grades K-8, this initiative seeks to increase students' engagement with literature, cultivate a love for reading, and foster the development of critical thinking abilities.

Chesterton - Notre Dame Academy: Retreat Program 2024

• Chesterton will execute five different retreats during the 2024-2025 academic year, aimed at each student's emotional and spiritual development. The hope is to utilize different locations, guest speakers, and churches in the Diocese to help make the retreats a success.

Guardian Angel St. Boniface School - Colton: School and Classroom Rosaries

• The school will be purchasing a large rosary that will be hung in the entryway of the school. This rosary will be taken down and used when the whole school prays the rosary. In addition, large (but smaller) colorful rosaries for the two elementary classrooms will be purchased.

St Patrick School - Pasco: Pacific Science Center Trip

• Middle School Field Trip to the Pacific Science Center in Seattle.

St Patrick School - Pasco: School Exterior Update

• Refreshing the exterior appearance of the St. Patrick School building by: painting the front center of the building and painting the doorways from the parking lots; working with local metal artists to create a version of the school logo to mount on the center front; and planting shrubs and flowers to brighten up the looks of the building.

St Joseph Parish - Colbert: St Joseph, Colbert Vacation Bible School 2024: Walking with Jesus

• This New Testament Based Vacation Bible School transports children ages 4-10 back in time to explore the Sea of Galilee and interact with multiple Biblical characters including: the 12 apostles, Mary, Lazarus, John the Baptist and of course, Jesus of Nazareth! A team of seasoned volunteers is in full costume and in full role for the entire week of dynamic exploration of biblical history.

St Mary Parish - Spokane: Spokane Youth Ministry: Fall Retreat

• The youth ministers in Spokane desire to host a high school retreat taking place in the fall of 2024. This retreat would serve as a catalyst for new and returning students to ignite their faith as the school year begins. Each year will have a particular theme with the first year being "Friendship with Jesus."

St Mary Parish - Spokane: Spokane Youth Ministers: Better Together

• The average youth minister lasts 18 months in a given position. Better Together aims to support local youth ministers through monthly gatherings, formation, and a yearly retreat.

Sacred Heart Parish - Brewster: Religious Education Program at Sacred Heart Church in Brewster

• Curriculum workbooks gifted to families expressing financial hardships; classroom supplies and materials; the annual license for "Formed.org" to supplement the teacher curriculum; prayer books; supplies and conference assistance for the Youth Group; and snacks for the Saturday Sacramental prep classes and for the Youth program activities.

Cor Christi - Spokane: Cor Christ Pre-Seminary - Silent Retreat Program

• Cor Christi is a place where young men acquire the foundation, the disposition, and the means to discern God's will within authentic friendships, deep prayer, clear catechesis, and formation in chastity, while developing a dynamic of self-giving through direct service to the poor and in Catholic schools.

St Joseph Parish - Spokane (Dean): Religious Education

• The Religious Education at St. Joseph continues to grow, especially in the Hispanic Community. It's essential to continue supporting the youth in the parish and prepare them to receive their sacraments within the Catholic faith. This will include family gatherings and religious education where supplies and snacks are provided during class and gatherings.

St Patrick Parish - Colfax: Registration for St. Patrick Religious Education Program for 2024

• St. Patrick would like to send up to six students to the North Idaho summer bible camp in June as well as the Steubenville youth conference in July at Spokane. The funds awarded from the Catholic Foundation would help pay a portion of the registration costs for the students.

Holy Family Social Concerns Committee - Clarkston: Holiday Outreach to Poor Families and Elderly Persons

• The Social Concerns Committee at Holy Family provides food baskets at Christmas and Easter to needy families and elderly people who live at home. The Committee also conducts an annual collection on each Sunday of Advent of groceries, toiletries, child care products, and diapers to support local charities such as The Asotin County Foodbank and St. Vincent DePaul Society.
